Thanksgiving Countdown 2: 17 Days!

The Thanksgiving Countdown continues with 17 days left! It is best to start preparing for the big day now, even though you still have two and a half weeks left. Planning and preparing takes quite a bit of time, even if it may just be you and your hubby or some friends. Even small parties and intimate meals take quite a bit of planning and preparing to make it great. I know this can all seem like too much so let’s start slowly with something small: inviting family and friends over for Thanksgiving. You can do a fun little, free inphographic like I did for my Friendsgiving last year, or create an online social media event with pictures, or even just text or call people to invite them; there are no rules for this!

This is the free inphographic I created for a friendsgiving last year. I did it online for free and it was crazy easy. I really enjoyed making it!

After you invite your guests, wait to hear back from them and loosely start to plan your menu. You can start looking in magazines and online for delicious turkey and sides recipes. I also like to start looking into a couple of easy appetizers and dessert recipes that could be a big hit for your potential guests. Now, don’t worry if your guests haven’t answered yet, you have time! (and hopefully your guests will answer pretty quickly, if not you can just plan for the people that you know will probably come, but are just too busy to answer). Planning for contingency’s now can help to ensure that you are ready for anything.

You can also start to work on your tablescape for the big day. Try using the natural beauty of Autumn all around you (if you are lucky enough to find leaves like these- if not, you can always buy some fake leaves and pumpkins for decorations) I like the idea of planning something small and intimate for the table itself like some beautiful candles and leaves all around the place settings of your choice with pumpkin colored napkins and simple flat wear. Thanksgiving can be as fancy or as simple as you make it, nothing has to be exact here-have fun with it!
